Due to the fact thats its not yet available on dvd , I borrowed a friends video of 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' and after watching it came to this conclusion-They just don't make films this good anymore!
So far,I'v watched Planet of the apes,Pearl Harbour,Rush Hour 2,Final Fantasy, and one or two other films at the cinema and have left at the end of each screening feeling underwhelmed and feeling like I'd seen it all before,Whats worse, I was browsing play 247 and realised that there was'nt a single current title that took my interest-its not that I have an extensive library-I'v only got about thirty DVD's,the bulk of my films being laserdiscs, but all the recent blockbusters whilst looking and sounding spectacular, stink big time-I'v heard several mentions of people who just can't wait for the dvd of 'Final Fantasy' to come out-they're aware that it stinks big time, but its pure eye candy-and'll look and sound a treat on a decent home cinema setup but What happened to the good old days when you bought a film and ENJOYED it?

Having checked out duncan wardle's thread about blockbusters,I'v come to the conclusion that this genre is dying a death due to over reliance on flashy fx and an underdeveloped story which rides on the films eye candy.
