I recently had a problem with the screen on my Welkin T516 portable DVD player bought October 05. Woolworths swapped the main unit without fuss but gave me back my accessories including the battery.

Google searching for the multi region hack I came across this product recall notice

If your serial number begins with either 0504***** or 0505*****, you should stop using the product immediately and contact the Woolworths Customer Support Department for a replacement battery.

It seems that the battery pack may be dangerous. I contacted Woolworths by email [email protected] who are shipping a replacement and a return envelope for the potentially dangerous battery.

If you have the player check the serial number on the player and contact Woolworths for a new battery if you're player has a serial number in that range.

Replacement battery arrived today along with some new serial number stickers.
I urge anyone with this player to check out their serial number - The Fire Brigade posted the warning so I have to assume it's a real danger.
