Because it's out of print. And everyone who owns a copy knows it, so the price is pushed up to silly money.

It's not even anamorphic. I'm holding out for a miracle that they'll re-release in an SE or something :)

Sadly, the two greatest and most popular John Hughes movies (Weird Science and The Breakfast Club) have got the poorest transfers.

Uncle Buck, Some Kind of Wonderful, Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink.... all anamorphic.

Weird Science and The Breakfast Club ... non-anamorphic, only available on R1.

    It's madness I tell you, madness! :(

As for taping off the TV, you would expect advice like that from spidermanalf, seeing as he worries about the spines of his DVDs matching over the quality of image and sound. Ain't that right mate? ;) :p

My VCR is just a big clock. Can't watch VHS now I've gotten so used to DVD via RGB :)

Wow The Breakfast Club. What a top film. But something I still don't understand till this day is why, oh why did Emilio start dancing through the library? The only thing I can think is that Mr. Hughes had been on the old Bob Hope when he wrote that bit of the film.

    'Miracle' (?)

"Continuing to raid their vaults for the best of their vast library, Universal Studios Home Video also has another batch of catalog faves on tap for April 1st. A mix of DVD debuts and reissues, the lineup includes: Legal Eagles, John Belushi in Continental Divide, a new special edition of the sci-fi classic The Andromeda Strain, Francois Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451, and (finally!) new versions of the John Hughes classics The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles and Weird Science. No specs yet, but watch this space!"

Jay and Silent Bob summed up the works of John Hughes well in Dogma.

Hopefully a SE will be relaesed of The Breakfast Club.

A naked blonde walks into a bar, with a poodle under one arm, and a two foot salami under the other. She lays the poodle on the table. Bartender says, "I suppose you won't be needing a drink." The naked lady says...

Still bugs me what she said.

Weird Science is on Sky One tonight if you can't wait for the DVD.

I know it has adverts in it, the stupid logo, isn't in Widescreen, doesn't have decent sound & a whole lot of other reasons for not watching it.... but it's the best I can offer you:confused:

I don't have Sky, but I have Weird Science on VHS. It's 4:3 and has no stupid Sky logo. That's the best I can offer myself :D
