Hello all,
The hard drive of my computer has been partitioned into C and D drives. The C drive contains Program Files and windows files, whilst the d-drive contains the my documents folder.
The problem is that whilst I can install programs, once the computer is restarted, the installed programs are no longer on the hard drive. The upshot is that every time I restart the computer it is in exactly the same state as it was following the last restart (somewhat like a PC in an internet cafe). So for instance whilst I could install a game and play it, once I restart the computer and it boots up, there is no sign of said game on the hard drive. The only exception to this is that I can write to the D-drive, thus I am able to save stuff like word documents and photos.
How this has happened is a long and idiotic story, but basically an acquaintance of a friend got to my computer, partitioned the drive and then ostensibly made it so the PC could not contract any viruses.
Unfortunately I am somewhat of a techno-cripple, hence this appeal, so sorry if my explanation of the problem does not make things crystal.
Any ideas?
Thanking in advance.
