This post is aimed at those who have built their own websites.

My main question is how did you do it?
IE Which program did you use, or did you type all the code by hand?

My company website is being relaunched in the near future, as the company who were running shut down due to lack of profit.

Hence myself and a graphics design colleague will be making the new one.

    Thanks for any help.

    Rick :)

If you plan on taking it fairly seriously and developing the site into something that can compete with the majority that you will see on the internet then you will not regret investing in (or otherwise obtaining) Adobe Photoshop and Macromedia Dreamweaver.

There are plenty of other programms around but these are about the most rounded of them. Photoshop in particular is industry standard.

You can use them fairly basically to begin with (you can use dreamweaver much like Word) and then as you pregress you will be able to create something which matches any of those seen on the web.

A good thing about dreamweaver is that you can see the source code at the smae time as the WYSIWYG editor and use this to gain a good understanding of HTML.
You can also visit a page in your browser and tell it to 'edit with dreamweaver'. This opens the page in dreamweaver with all the secrets of how the page was built revealed!

These programs are the cornerstone of many a web design company and you simply can't go wrong.

    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Alex Simon
