Would love to hear your recommendations on this one.

Pretty normal stuff. A Windows PC with a WebCam (Nice Logitech 1080p model) :)

One thing I wish to do, the other thing would be nice if possible, but not SO important.

The one thing I do wish to be able to do is to view the image from the webcam on another PC on my home network. (I'd hope for good quality on this front as I'm all "Wired" not wifi)

The other thing that would be handy (some future need, but not SO important right now) would be to be able to view the PC's webcam across the internet. Say from work.
(I'd expect a lot lower quality of course then)

Naturally, free software is always a plus or at most very inexpensive :)

I know there are some bits of software to do this. "Yet Another Webcam" being one of them, and I almost tried this, but it needs JAVA installed and I've just got rid of it from my PC's after reading all the potential issues there can be, and it not being needed on PC's these days.

But I'm very much open to all suggestions.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations or advice you may have.

    Strange....
Will admit, I thought many people had webcams, naturally of course Laptop users, and that doing this type of thing would be a well known task.
Perhaps it's a people are busy over the weekend kinda thing. No worries, no rush at this end.
If anyone pops on that does know their stuff when it comes to this, I'd be most appreciative, but as I say, no rush, it's just something I'd like to be able to do. No pressing need.

Can't be much help but I recently discovered an app called "presence" which will allow you use old iPhone as cctv cameras and access them anywhere in the world. I've not actually looked too much into the app but I wonder if they've stretched out to webcams too so might be worth a look

    Thanks.
I did look at this after your post, but it does seem to be, as you mentioned, just a phone thing.
I appreciate you trying to help :)

    Thanks.
Well, yes, YawCam I did mention, but do I need to re-install Java onto my PC again (think it says it needs Java) and, its REALLY old. Not that, that matters, but one would think, given the number of webcams out now, the market would be bursting with other products.

Thank you for the Msoft remote cam phone software, appreciate the link, though I'd not after using a phone to view on. Something for the future perhaps, so thank you, but not right now :)

    All good :)
It's starting to look, at the moment that I'm going to end up installing that, unless there is anything more modern that offers the same thing.
As I said, with webcams in everything, and remote security, I would of thought there would be a ton of similar software out now.
apparently not, well, not that I know about, or anyone is telling me about so far.

You should be able to port route on your router to access it away from home, and I think you can make it only capture images when it senses motion.

The PS3 cameras are about £4 and pretty good in low level light, we use them for live event visuals for that reason.
