I currently watch freeview on my PJ using the composite from the back of the second scart on my VCR. I use one of those scart to Video and L&R Sterio outs.

I am considering buying one a Through SCART to Phono & S-VHS from Maplins. I will then connect to PJ using the S-VHS. Will I see much improvement?

In really simple terms and in order of reducing quality...

RGB/component: 3 separate signals, one containing the information for each colour (red, green, blue).

S-Video: Two separate signals, chrominance and luminance - consider these the red, green and blue signals downmixed.

Composite: Single signal containing everything - consider this the chrominance and luminance downmixed.

Yes, you should see a big improvement.

Am I right in saying that SVHS will only work or be an improvment if your VCR outputs SVHS? if not your gonna have a duff picture.
But, if it does output SVHS it will be a great improvement.
