Guys please bare with me as I go through this, the ending is worth it.

My Philips 9527 went away three weeks ago with various issues.
It came back with geometry problems and taking 40 seconds to come on.

Thankfully I bought the set from an audio/video specialist (I will not mention their name here) and not your usual chain store.

I rang them on Saturday morning and they sent somebody out to look at it within the hour.

When he got to my house we turned the set on (taking 40 seconds) and after a minute it promptly turned itself off.

After messing around with various settings etc to try and find out what could be causing the problems I showed him this forum and another one mentioning the problems with the Philips sets. He was amazed at how large the issue was and said he would report back to his boss and they would contact Philips.

On Monday of this week they contacted their other branches around the country to see if there were any others, the response was from what I can understand substantial.

This has prompted them to have a high level meeting with Philips management today (Wednesday) to get Philips to explain what is going on. I have been told by the retailer they are totally on our side and will fight our corner to find out what Philips are going to do about this.

I will let you know what happens when they tell me how things have gone.

We had a Phillips television once, a top spec, can't remember the model though. We had the same problems; the tv turning itself off, geometry problems etc.

We have never owned a Phillips television since... It sounds harsh, but I don't really trust Phillips produtcs.

I had a faulty Philips 9527 P+ set and my retailer did the same, he even contacted some top nob in Belgium, but the end result was always the same, Philips kept on blaming everything apart from the TV, I eventually returned it and changed to a Loewe Aventos which is as near perfect a TV as I have ever seen.
