Will an amp rated at 95RMS (at 8ohms) per channel work with a pair of speakers with a total power handling of 200watts and a sensitivity of 90.5?

sorry for the dumb question, just need to clear a few things up

    Cheers guys

From those numbers it should be fine but there's often a bit more to it. What speakers and amp are you considering?

I've also just received my Aesprit 309's and am now looking to upgrade to an amp that can feed them some juice.
I feel the speakers are quite bass-ey and am looking for something to help bring out the higher end and give it some detail.
I am wondering if there are any suggestions out there for a suitable amp or the manufacturers I should be looking to give me the detail I'm after.
I am only looking to spend about £200 ,so would I be better looking second hand for a better amp at the price.
I have seen a couple of NAD's on ebay (C350 and C370), which I understand have the power, but am worried they may bring even more bass to the system.
    Any suggestions/advice very welcome!!

A better amp can help the bass but it could also be strongly effected by other factors such as speaker stands and speaker location

    Hi Bogbloke,

I'm using a Marantz PM-26 at the moment, an old amp I haven't used for a while and only 30W/channel.
I have been using an AV Amp recently, but would like to go back to a decent Hi-Fi amp for these speakers.

I'll be really interested to hear how your PM7200 sounds when you get it set up.

Uni can wait bogbloke, you gottat hear them!!

I'm really pleased with the speakers, build quality is great.
I just feel as I said earlier, I should be hearing a bit more detail and suspected the amp right away.
I guess I should do a bit more experimenting as I have the AV amp and another CD player in the living room.
I've also ordered a Mark Grant interconnect today and am in the process of making up some cat5 based speaker cable, so will wait and play around a bit more.
Anyone with any views on a more suitable Amp, which makes are considered brighter than others?

    Well sheltie

Just set mine up and my amp seems to cope fine, you could get my amp if you wish, its a great amp and not too expensive. It performs as well as some other amps that are more expensive. The same with my cd player, the cd-63 mkII KI is a classic and if you can get one on ebay i suggest you do, however word of caution on this cd player, dont get one that has been run into the ground, try and get one thats been well looked after or had a new cd lens fitted as these are quite old now, i think you will be amazed by the sound this cd player.

I havent run my speakers in class A mode yet. My speakers sound great and they arent even run in yet. Sound great on Her Majesty's Secret Service by Properllerheads

Looks like a great player, read a couple of reviews as well - wow.

I'm using a ,marantz cd65dx player I got along with the PM-26 many years ago, not in the same class, but a pretty decent player.

I'm going to muck around, before making any decisions.

Have you tried the amp in class A yet, any real difference and just how hot does the amp get in this mode?
