Hi all. Can anyone give me their opinion as to the best dvd release of Watership Down (any region). Ive had a copy for about a year and although its ok its quality really isnt any better than VHS with no extras. I see a special edition has just come out on R2 and I wondered if anyone has it and what it is like. I love the film and I think it is dark British animation at its best (not really one for the very young) and deserves a decent release on dvd. Ps does Kehaar tell the rabbits to p*ss off...I could never quite make it out lol

    Hazel: Are you hurt?
    Kehaar: Kaah kaah!
Hazel: If he's hurt, maybe we ought to help him.
    Bigwig: A bird? What for?
Hazel: We - help - you.
    Kehaar: **** off!

    Yep. :)

Despite what it says "on the tin", it's 1.85:1 anamorphic. I got mine last week from Play.

It looks like it's been cropped a bit, though. And the extra features are okay but fairly lightweight. Most criminally, it's missing the commentary Martin Rosen did for the R4 Anniversary Edition which would've made this essential...

So, if you want a commentary, I'm afraid you still have to set your sights on Australia...
