Water Damage and Screen now very dark - but all working?!

A friend of mine dropped their iPhone in the shower and they managed to put it in bowl of rice. Anyway, this morning, turned it on and all appeared fine - all functions working (sound, make receive calls etc etc).

But now, even tho the battery has a full charge, the screen has gone very dim and dark.

Have checked the brightness settings and these are fine so is this just the slippery slope to a failing iPhone?

If he took it to the O2 shop, I assume they would suss that it has water damage, so would they offer a replacement for £xx??

O2 shop would more than likely notice straight away.

I did the same to mine before and couldn't get the screen brightness back.

So unfortunately I'd say sorry mate, it's knackered.

Thanks for quick response:thumbsup:

Would he be able to buy another from O2 in exchange - i'm sure I read about O2 will charge £150 or so or something???

The replacement at around £140 is from Apple, a lot of folk have booked an appointment with an Apple shop to check out a repair cost and found the option to buy a replacement a better option.

The iphone has several water sensors (in headphone socket in connector area etc) which voids the standard warranty from Apple.

If you do a search here for replaced water damage you'll probably find the actual cost from those wo got theirs replaced.
