I was looking at the Channel 4 website for details on the transfer of service of E4 to Freeview , and I came across this link http://www.ebookbusiness.co.uk/sky/index.htm from there. Does anyone have this service, and if so, how does it work? Is it reliable? It seems incredibly cheap, and their promise frankly unbelievable. They appear to be suggesting that you can get all of Sky's broadcasts for a one-off fee of £4.95, streamed or downloaded to your PC(?). They boast '200 channels' including all sports channels and pay-per-view movies. If anyone has any experience of this service, please respond

There are plenty of internet feeds across the globe that carry programming which is broadcast by channels on the SKY D platform. For the most part they are legal internet feeds but they are by no means comparable to the PAL spec digital broadcasting (both audio/video quality) that the UK consumer expects as the norm.

Basically you are paying for a list of websites which carry these feeds and that's all they are promising:)

A little bit of search work will reveal over 200 sites that supply etc, or you could always pay the man his money and have him deliver the details.

Sorry, I don't watch internet streamed video when I have digital satellite, digital and analogue terrestrial and a DVD collection so never wasted my time looking for the net broadcasts nor would I waste my CM modem subscription (soon to be capped if you believe NTL) on 'em :)

As I said the service this guy is offering is legit but it's hardly worth the asking price, mind you still better value than spending a quid to learn the battery trick to get free PPV :)

    Starburst -

You seemed to know a lot about the subject after reading your first post, including the audio/video quality and the legal position of these sites.

Then you tell us you've "never wasted my time looking for the net broadcasts" in your second post.

    So which is it?

You don't need to do something to know about it:)
There have been plenty of "scams" which deal with pay television and they seem to appear in different guises on a regular cycle, perhaps to snare a brand new bunch of people ignorant of the fact.
This sort of offer has appeared time and time again which in part is down to the fact that below the spin they are just repackaging and selling public domain info which isn't illegal.

Internet broadcasting is legal if the broadcasters owns the rights and most do, however it doesn't take any great insight to know that picture quality even on a decent broadband connection being routed half way round the world can not be compared to the current standards of UK television broadcasts.

Which is exactly what you have done. Difference is that Starbust is contributing postively to the thread whereas you're clearly just looking for a fight. Bad day at the office?

I am passing on information about a well known "scam" which I hope will prevent the thread starter from spending money on something which is not exactly as advertised.

If that action doesn't meet your requirments of what is a valid post then feel free to report to the mods or even better correct my posts with more accurate or valid information (which you have done previously and I accept fully).

    Hi Kaotician,

I have no direct experience with the individual who is running this scam but in essence it's basically a compiled list of weblinks (mostly legit) from broadcasters around the world who stream movies/sports and other programs.
You will not get SKY1 streamed over the net nor SKY movies/sports but you will get sports/movies and other shows that are carried on SKY and other UK broadcasters.

PQ will be pretty pathetic and even on a fast broadband it will be far cry from the PQ you would expect from a premium streaming service let alone broadcast TV.

Hope that helps, if it doesn't then I did my best to help a fellow forum user:)

In response to you both -

If this is a scam - which it may or may not be - I am merely asking for pointers to where we can find these 'feeds'. I hardly think that is "spoiling for a fight".

Kaotician seems well aware this is a scam but is asking for people who've had "experience of this service". It's clear Starburst or anyone else thus far hasn't.

I'm trying to take the thread forward - not "spoling for a fight" or spewing paragraph after paragraph of 'hearsay'.

Where can we find these feeds? Simple question innit?

I assume you know how to use google?
I took me 30 seconds to find a few links to streaming video along the lines of which will be supplied for paying the £4.95 being asked for.

    Football Streams
    Sports TV

I still can't quite grasp what your problem is though.
You do not need to have taken part in this particular "offer" to know what it is and why it should be avoided.

This scam has done the rounds for a year or so along side even more well known scams such as the 9v trick and extra SKY channels which just gives you the transponders details for the ITV regions all for a few quid, easy money!
You may choose to believe that unless you have paid this guy the £4.95 then you are not entitled to an opinion or post in this thread in an effort to prevent a fellow forum user from wasting his/her money but I think if you treat this forum as a small community you have an obligation to help others from making mistakes especially when it costs them money and lines the pockets of people who exploit others.

    Indeed.
    It isn't SKY material though.
Premiership and FA footy are sold on a global basis not by SKY but the governing bodies of UK football and depending upon the markets and regions it can be FTA or subscription on sat/terrestrial/cable and internet.
That is why it has been possible to watch top flight footy from other satellites that cover the EU and thanks to broadcasters who stream very low quality feeds globally you can watch over the net.
The same applies for all SKY's content which is imported from global distributers, SKY only buy rights for the UK and ROI and anyone else can buy the rights for their regions for broadcasting as they wish or more to the point what they are prepared to pay for.
Some feeds of course will not be quite legal, one of the reasons Formula 1 introduced a DOG onto it's world feed was to easily identify who had the legal rights to broadcast it and who didn't.

The reason net broadcasting is not a threat to SKY unlike FTA satellite broadcasts which are being actively reduced is the poor quality feeds, that will change in time and expect Footy to be a major pull for BT's xDSL television service when it arrives.

    Starburst - I don't have a problem.

All I asked, right from the start is where we can find these feeds from the "Sky D platform".

After wading through all the waffle we finally get a link to a site wanting £7.95 for a list :suicide: and another pointing to obscure foreign TV feeds.

You initially suggested you knew all about this 'scam' and where to find these feeds from "the Sky D platform" but in truth you didn't. You got these from a Google search. Any of us could have done that by following the links at the top of this page....

The bottom line is that this guy in Leicester is misleading people into thinking that you can get Sky digital channels for free. You can't.

Unfortunately the laws governing misleading advertisements don't apply to web pages, as I found out when I complained to the ASA about a well-known bank that advertised "web protection" on their credit card, which turned out to be worthless.

When this thread came up I did pm a list that I have to a certain forum user, maybe they didn't get it as not a thanku, please, kiss my backside to be seen. I have had this list on computer for a while now and reall cannot remember the source but if any help to folk here it is:

THE LINKS BELOW CONTAIN DETAILS OF JUST ABOUT ALL THE TV STATIONS WORLDWIDE (MANY ARE IN ENGLISH) THAT ARE CURRENTLY BROADCASTING THEIR SERVICE OVER THE INTERNET.

MOST ARE MAINSTREEM TV CHANNELS WHICH ALSO TRANSMIT OVER THE NET.

    ALL TOPICS COVERED:
    NEWS, SPORT, MUSIC, ETC

WHILST I CANNOT GUARENTEE THAT THEY WILL ALL BE AVAILABLE ALL THE TIME, ALL THE LINKS WORKED OK WHEN CHECKED....SOMETIMES SERVERS DO GO DOWN OR ARE TOO BUSY ETC.

MOST INTERNET TV CHANNELS WILL WORK PERFECTLY WELL WITH A DIAL UP CONNECTION BUT OBVIOUSLY THEY WILL BENEFIT FROM A FASTER ADSL BROADBAND SETUP.

ALSO, BE SURE YOUR PC IS UP TO DATE...IE LATEST VERSIONS OF MEDIA PLAYER, REAL PLAYER ETC.

I COULD HAVE PASTED INDIVIDUAL LINKS TO THE (LITERALLY HUNDREDS) OF CHANNELS AVAILABLE, HOWEVER, I THOUGHT IT BEST TO PROVIDE JUST THE FOLLOWING THREE LINKS TO SITES WHICH LIST THEM ALL FOR YOU....AND PROVIDE YOU WITH A MUCH TIDIER INTERFACE THAN I COULD PROVIDE IN THIS DOC.

CHANNELS WILL BE REPEATED THROUGH THESE THREE LINKS - BUT BY PROVIDING ALL THREE, WE ARE COVERED IN CASE ONE OF THE SITES GO DOWN.

    http://wwitv.com/portal.htm

THANK YOU AND I HOPE YOU FIND THESE USEFUL.You may need a few extra pieces of software for these stations to work.
The software you will need is as follows.
    Windows media player
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/players.aspx
some of the streams need the latest version of media player so if you have any problems try updating to the latest version.
Real one player is the next piece of software you may need.
    http://www.real.com/index.html?src=downloadr
There is a free version of the software you can download here, you don’t need to pay for the full version as the free version will do fine.
You should see a link in the top right corner that says free real one player click here to get to the page where you can get the free version.. Ignore the 14 day free trial links.
This should allow you to watch all the streams listed here.
Please remember these streams and links do go up and down from time to time just like any other link on the internet. If you find 1 of the links isn’t working just come back and try it again later.
To watch any of these links just copy and paste the link into your web browser and it should start-up the program needed and within a few minutes you should be watching the tv channel. Or if its a link site just click on the link for the channel you want to watch. Just remember stations go up and down all the time just try again later if its not working. And also for all you die hard sports who wants it now Please remember these streams and links do go up and down from time to time just like any other link on the internet.
If you want to watch 1 of the footie games make sure you get on the stream really early as they fill up really quick then you wont be able to watch anything.

    pa 28 driver,

If you're referring to me - I didn't receive a PM from you.

Fantastic post - just what I asked for - a list of these sites. No waffle, no bullsh*t, just straight to the point. :D

No doubt it'll be deleted soon!

Top man! :smashin: You're a star!

    AD,

Maybe went straight into your spam box, please check, don't see any reason at all why it should be deleted, after all only showing what is freely available elsewhere....Surprising what one finds when you go looking through doc files :D

    cheers

Phew! Well, thanks for all yout time and effort here, folks  I'm slightly disappointed that I seem to have stirred up a bit of an argument amongst people as to what info etc I was looking for - but, honestly, I'm grateful for everybody's input. Personally, I'd never heard of such a facility before (online streaming satellite TV), and it certainly piqued my curiosity. It doesn't appear that anyone's really missing out on anything, does it? :)
