Watch TV and play game at same time on same screen

Xbox one allows you to "snap" more than one app onto your screen, splitting the screen. So you can play a game and watch tv at the same time. Which would be great when wanting to play a grindy game like poker or a RPG whilst wanting to keep track of the football score.
However I dont have £350 to buy an xbox one!
Is there any other way of doing this more cheaply, so you could run say an xbox 360 and tv on the same screen at the same time?

You'd need to use a video mixer with PIP (picture in picture) capabilities or use a TV with its own inbuilt PIP abilities. A mixer will probably cost you as much as the XBox if not more?

Their primary purpose is for use with CCTV security cameras, allowing a single monitor to be used in conjunction with several cameras. The issue you'd have is that these devices aren't really orientated towards domestic use and you pay more if wanting HDMI and audio passthrough.

Thanks for all replies. Its a shame that PIP TV tech never really seemed to take off. Obviously at £1500 for a HDMI splitter Id be better off just getting a XB1.

Samsung TVs include it, but you can't use it to view one HDMI input while watching another. Nor can you watch an HDMI source while using the SMART features.

Unfortunately that is just a switch and does offer any PIP facility
