Slightly off topic - but LCD related.

    I have a 13 month old Phillips 32" LCD.

I have gone to check out extended warranties online and came across warrantydirect.co.uk

They would cover the TV for about £60 for the coming year against 'mechanical/electrical" defects etc.

I can't find my original receipt (Currys) but can't see in their T&Cs that they need this -
How then do they know how old the TV is?
How do they know it's not already broken down? - it's not broken by the way.

It all seems too easy somehow.

Is this sort of cover worth it anyway?

Are some companies offering extended warranties better than others?

    Thanks in advance.
