I hope the They’re Already Here does not mean a storyline like the TV series as I was hoping it would be set I the correct time period as the book and at worst in Victorian times in the USA.
Will look forward to the trailer on Friday..

last I read they've moved it into the future, not sure how far but it's a long way from Victorian England, I know that much.
It'll be another Hollywood movie where the only common factor between the book and the film will be the title

Pretty unfair to pass judgment on an entire film based on a very short teaser trailer which has maybe 20 seconds of footage from the film, I will wait until more of the film has been shown before I decide whether I want to see it or not.

For what it is though I thought it was pretty well done as teaser trailer shouldnt give too much away which this doesnt but at the same time it should give you just enough to peak your interest and for me it did this, I am looking forward to the next trailer.

Which version of the film is going to be the best though as apparently three 'War of the Worlds' films are being released next year. I havent seen anything about the Jeff Waynes Animated version yet but the other one looks terrbile if the teaser trailer is anything to go by. The acting looks like it belongs in a straight to video release but apparently it will be released in the cinema in March.

Thanks Indiana Jones, that link works.

Did you notice when the fim is being introduce with a 3rd rate script and voice over compared to the album version they mention the 21st century, yet later the final clip the clothes and cars look more mid 20th century. I wonder is that to do with there already here.

I liked how the voice over was taking parts directly out of the book but updating it for the film so instead of "the end of the 19th century" they had "the start of the 21st century" so with it being a teaser trailer it will no doubt be dont better if they actually do the same voice over in the film.

Also, I didnt notice anything wrong with the cars or clothing in the final clip though, it all looked modern day to me.

Dreadful they should have been faithful to the book. I'd love to see an authentic version of this but now its highly unlikely it will happen in my lifetime .
    Thanks a bunch Steve.

Actually there are currently three versions of War of the Worlds in production at the moment. One is the Paramount version which this thread is about but there is also a live action version being produced by Pendragon pictures which is being true to the novel but from the teaser trailer is looks a little rough. The other is an animated version being done by Jeff Wayne which I am quite looking forward too.

The official websites for the other two versions are below...

Never happen , these things have been floating around for 10 years and resurface every so often like a bloated corpse.

There is already a teaser trailer available for the Pendragon release, you might want to check it out.
The film is due for release in March so its defently happening but whether it will be any good is another question.

Having viewed the trailer I can safely say this will never materialise.
This looks like some students film marketing project.
Its the funniest thing I've seen in years!

Can’t see why the Jeff Wayne one will not materialize. I fancy getting that in SACD so long as it is the original version rather than that dreadful remix.
Would have prefer DVD-A then they may have had the animation as well.

Jeff wayne's track record in completing projects has been pretty ropey over the last 10 years.

Spartacus the musical had something to do with him and ran for approximately 1 night I seem to recall.

the thought of ropey animation set to his cheesefest music doesn't bear thinking about.

In fact wasn't he talking about this animated version (with clips in the video) at the time of the album's release?

Actually it does bear thinking about. The album is totally evocative of the book. With the right visuals it WILL be awesome, so there wiseguy. :nono: :hiya:
