Just watched this on BRD and was blown away!

A real surprise of a movie. Stylish, semi-realistic and a great plot.
Totally unlike any previous Jason Statham movie!

Jet Li is also restrained and does not have to prove he is "the world's greatest martial artist" in every scene either.

Definitely worth seeing and the US version works fine on a UK PS3.

Couldn't agree more, will hold out and purchase this on blu-ray when I get my blu-ray drive! Everybody else should go out and buy though!

Actually I was dreading that and listening out for it, but he doesn't seem to bother in this film, it's just his native cockney.

Jet Li nearly has as few lines as Arnie in Terminator; again, a good thing!

I was expecting an OTT, brain-out actioner, but was pleasantly surprised.

This movie was a massive disappointment. I am a fan of both actors and was really looking forward to seeing this film. I would give it a 5/10 at best.

Couldn't agree more. This is the worst film I've seen this year by a long shot. Didn't do justice to either of the 2 big names.

It is a cliche ridden sub-par join the dots kind of flick, a real stinker IMO :thumbsdow

    Kudos

What, compared to other Jason Statham masterpieces like, er, Transporter 2 or Crank? :rotfl:
Both of those were amusing, but hardly classics either!

War was a great film IMO, precisely because it did not play up to existing preconceptions about what you would imagine a Statham/Li film to be like.

Transporter, Lock Stock, Snatch, Crank are far better movies than this one. This has to be one of the first threads I have seen praising this movie. It was poor from start to finish with a poor plot. Not upto to either of the main stars other movies. Especially Jet Li who has done some cracking movies like Fearless, Danny the Dog.

I found War boring and a waste of two good talents. For me it was one of the most disappointing movies of 2007 as I am a big fan of both of these actors. :thumbsdow

I didn't think I was alone in thinking this. A few members moaned about this movie in the 'What are You Watching Tonight' thread.

Same ol' cliched semi-martial art / gun-karta style action fart, highly predictable movie that's easily forgettable.

On the other hand, although nothing groundbreaking in terms of storyline, I had the pleasure of watching Donnie Yen's SPL and Flashpoint recently and both were much more satisfying than War.

BTW what's with Jet, I thought he promised to stop making movies after Fearless

This film seems to split people down the middle, I was going to buy it but may wait for a sale, I already have a dozen films still sealed!
