One of the best trilogies of modern cinema in my opinion, going off on its own but still holding links to the Ape movies of the past.

The Blu Ray must be really good then as I thought this looked amazing.

      Hi Cas,

Many thanks for the review. I would probably put this at a 7 overall, The first of the trilogy is by far my favorite.

FWIW the HMV steelbook is a hell of a bargain. 25 quid gets you:

      x1 UHD
      x1 3D BD
      x1 BD

Oh, and digital download codes for all three movies are included.

Don't forget one of the most awkward slips ever produced :)

Not sure if we can call it a J card...

      Its more of a 't' or a 'c' card than a 'j' card.
The card does have the title along its spine, so I don't mind that the steel doesn't as I wont get rid of the card.

I don't wish to worry you but I ordered the Harry Potter 8 Disk set from Zavii in August they took my money on The 27th November (release date) and the order still shows awaiting dispatch, which means that I can't cancel the order. When I contacted them I was told that there was an issue with warehouse, and that it would be sent soon, I'm still waiting and it still says Awaiting Dispatch, now they don't even answer my queries so it likes they have gone rogue. I've cancelled my other pre orders with them.

Thats exciting to hear. I'm still new to the 4k game, and to be honest nothing has really stood out and made me go "wow".
Out of interest, are your Atmos speakers up shooting, or are they in the ceiling? I'm looking into Enabled ones for my setup (ceiling currently out the question). Got a Denon X2400 AVR.

I wasn't that impressed with the film as a whole, too long. I found myself looking at the timer on the player, never a good indication of how I'm engrossed in a film, I thought both previous editions were better. As for disc quality it's pretty damn good. Audio, even though the mean buggers have kept Atmos for the 4K, is demo worthy. The centre channel, especially with Ceaser's soft tones, is amongst the best I've heard. A solid audio presentation. The flm itself, 6/10.

That's great news, I'm hoping that the last tweet I got from them means that they really are looking at dispatching it.

Best 4k hdr picture quality so far. Leaves so called 'reference' discs such as Blade runner trailing in its dust.

I Adored this film, it’s in my top 5 of the year.

As a UHD Disc it’s gorgeous, the stunning cinematography is done beautiful justice by the transfer, it could have easily looked gloomy and dark but every detail is showcased amazingly, black levels and shadow details are amazing!
Audio is also beautifully subtle too, totally immersive.
A perfect end to an excellent trilogy IMO.
A towering achievement in story telling and absolutely bleeding edge effects.
I look forward to more Matt Reeves films in the future (I’ve loved his previous movies too)

had mine a week or two before I watched it tonight

I agree with all the positive views

enjoyed the film but the 4k presentation was an absolute stunner

we are starting to see some (lots of) disks now where the value of 4K UHD just bursts from the screen
