Highly unlikely. The only reason I would sell our one off as an ex demo model would for the following reasons: 1. Unit scratched or marked badly (Unlikely as we are all very careful in the shop) 2. Unit is superceded or discontinued (Again unlikely at the moment for obvious reasons) 3. A customer purchasing one was in too much of a rush to wait the 2 or 3 days it takes to order one and insisted on taking the demo unit, in which case I would sell the demo model at full price unless points 1 or 2 applied to the unit. (Again unlikely due to the short time it takes to order one) 4. We decided to stop dealing with FMJ products or Arcam altogether (Again unlikely as we at the shop are all big fans of Arcam products and they sell easily and are highly profitable)
Crusty, Is the DV29 worth the extra £600 over the DV79? I want to purchase with HDMI in mind for the future but really want an excellent cd player into the bargain. Is the DV29 the way to go??? Cheers Howard
IMO (and I have a DV29) the DV29 is a lot better at CD replay. therefore if CD replay is a priority for you then I would say the DV29 is going to be worth considering. You need to get along to an Arcam dealer and demo both DVD players side by side and see if the extra £600 is worth it to you, as only you can decide! Mark.
I concur. If you are interested in using either machine for cd replay then the DV29 wins hands down. As for whther its worth it, as Mark says go and have a listen for yourself £600 is a lot more to some people than others.
As confirmed by Arcam themselves there is no difference in picture quality via HDMI between the DV29 and DV79 - both are identical. I would expect the same from the SPDIF out.
