    Thats the problem!!!

Where does it pay to stop - eg multi chip ect?

    I haven't bought one since 1985 and that was £400 s/h (HVC4000P & SLF1UB)

Personally I would get a 3 chipper model. It does make quite a bit of difference, and you end up with pictures that look (more or less) similar broadcast quality. And the most affordable 3 chipper is probably the Panasonic NV-MX350B around £800, the prices for 3 chipper models go up to 2 grand.

Not sure of it's complete spec, but it has DV in (and analogue in), good lense. Not sure about anamorphic recording, but I'd imagine so.

    More details here: http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetailsnew.asp?modelcode=PAN-NV-MX350B

If that is out of your price range, I'd recomend any of the sony mid range models. This is an example: http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/productdetailsnew.asp?modelcode=SON-DCRTRV25

    Hope that's some help.

Btw, I'm not endorsing empire direct. You can probably find a better elsewhere. When you've decided, do a price comparison here: www.pricerunner.co.uk
