Im looking for a really good game for the gamecube that im not going to be anle to complete in the space of a week.

I'm really into games like Final fantasy, and like first person shooters, and games like Resident Evil, not really into sports games.

Ive got Timesplitters 2, Res Evil, and Tony hawks 3 and 4, Burnout and Zelda (which is annoying me). All of which Ive finished (apart from res Evil, and Zelda)

So whats really good and is going to keep me occupied.

Get Metroid Prime. Its amazing, totally immersive, beautiful graphics and can be pretty damn hard sometimes. Really takes some brain power to work out how to get around the worlds

Best game along with zelda (which too is annoying me as im stuck!)

Actually im stuck on metroid too but got so many games havent got the patience at the minute

IMHO Super monkeyball 1 is the tops, and can be got cheap all over.

Worth a shot just for the mini games, and I`m 32, not a kid.:smoke:

    LOL

Ok thanks, Ive looked at it a few times and thought it must be for kids, looks like that type of game, I might give that one a go.

Has anyone played Phantasy star online over the BB connection Is it any good? Is it newbie friendly or should I play it on my machine and get good at it before dishing out for the BB adaptor?

Am I right in thinking that PSO is a similar RPG like final fantasy?

Try Mario. It's so hard it'll drive you to tears at times, but it's an incredible game. Ignore all the crap about it having a terrible camera, use the C-stick to move the camera and you won't have a problem.

It's definitely not a kid's game...trust me. One of the hardest games I've played in years (but I still finished it with 86 shines :D)

I have to get you over this Zelda problem you seem to be having its possibly one of the best games ever! What can't you do?!

Try Eternal Darkness, don't get much more adult than that, sort of like the resi evil games but better (and thats coming from a long time fan of the resi evil series).

Super Monkey games are cartoony but great great fun.

you should never write off a Japanese game because it looks like it is for kids! the Japs(inc adults) love cutesy style and they are a bit wierd, but that doesnt affect the gameplay, Super Monkey Ball was originally a Sega Arcade game, it's excellent on the Gamecube and has some great mini/party games, its hard too.

SMB is great MOH is awsome on the cube and with multiplayer useful when you have completed it! I just bought night fire but not sure about it yet.

I really, really like Zelda, it's awesome. Super MonkeyBall is great: I love the hand-gliding game in particular!

Mario Sunshine is good, but I lost interest after a while.

I would say you are best off looking at Eternal Darkness then Metroid Prime. Prime is the better game IMO, but many have problems with the controls.

I too found Zelda to be a little dull, got to the third Island and lost interest in it :)

Just to add my 2p -

I've had Eternal Darkeness for a while now - had it sitting around while I went through Metroid...I thought...ahh it's just another res evil clone and it's no big deal...so didn't even bother switching it on once..!

anyway after getting completly p'd off with Metroid I thought i'd give eternal darkness a quick try....

wow.....i'm now playing this at every opportunity...!

Excellent sound, really involving in a surround sound system....good graphics that seem to get more and more detailed as you progress......excellent gameplay.....it's not brain bustingly hard...puzzles aren't impossible and there's no copious amounts of backtracking or aimless wanderin around.....the spell casting is pretty cool and there are some very very creepy moments...especially when you lose you sanity......

I tend to get bored of games pretty quick but this is def holding the attention....I haven't been this enrossed in a game since Halo...!

how about Skies of Arcadia which should be out tomorrow? i've not played it myself at all but it sounds quite good and is a Final Fantasy RPG type game. it's a Dreamcast port so it won't be utterly spectacular in terms of graphics but it has some improvements and there is supposed to be a solid chunk of gameplay in there to enjoy! it's on my shopping list anyway :smashin:

Skies of Arcadia is a very good RPG, however I hope they have sorted out the random battles as there is far too many of them!

The ship battles are pretty cool though.

Its not that i cant do it, its that the game seems to me to be a pile of stteming turd. I just cant get into it, I played it for about 30 mins to an hour after 4 hours of solid gameplay on res evil, and just turned it off and went back to killing zombies. Maybe its just me but I cant get into it. I may trade it when they become a bit more sought after with the bonus disc. What do you think James45 should I keep playing or am I a lost cause:)

I think Skies of Arcadia is next on the shopping list.

    Any more recomendations?

definitely a lost cause!:D seriously though I can't get enough of it... spent the last few hours collecting 60 photos (3 at a time!!) just to fill half the gallery section. Come to think of it I'm probably the lost cause!:D

Zelda was maybe a bit frustrating in the build up to getting your sword, but that took about 15 minutes, stick with it.

swords need to be enchanted before you put them into doors

the item needs to be enchanted with a colour stronger than than the one protecting the door...
    ie -
    Green beats blue
    Blue beats Red
    Red beats Green...

You may need to look further to find the right rune to let you make the magic in the other color. If you've already got all three then....prob best to check the FAQ's on the web to just check you haven't missed something earlier...

i seem to remember the EDGE review saying that the random battles had been reduced and also that the game had been expanded in some areas also! i also seem to remember them quoting about 60-70 hours worth of gameplay too

would have to agree with the recommendations for Eternal Darkness; a quality game with a widescreen mode :smashin: would have to disagree with Jedi Knight 2 however. i have it on PC and have been distinctly underwhelmed with it in the most part, and even though i have had it a year i still haven't bothered to get round to finishing it... :thumbsdow

What about Animal Crossing (its strangley addictive)

The game works with the clock on the gamecube, so different things happen at different times (ie. shops open etc.)

    Hi Shoka

I bought the limited edition silver gamecube today.
I got it with zelda & metroid prime.
Met prime is really good(nothing on halo). and Zelda is annoyin'
    me at the moment.
I hope my local friends don't find out im playing it!!!
I'll give this gamecube thing a 7day trial else it goes back to the
shop. I still can't forget the magic i felt when i first bought the
xbox, halo & rally sport challenge.

There's a couple of games that are getting my interest i'll see if i
can get them cheap, they are :

    - Ikaruga
    - Super Monkey Ball 2
    - Eternal Darkness

On the xbox im still playing panzer dragoon & Splinter cell.

What other games are you looking to get?

    Cya,
    Shaz

You can do, but it remembers the time when you log off, so you get a little man pop up who tells you off for cheating.
