It's a sales job - plenty more in the way of commission if you do well. ;)

Gee, thanks for pointing that out. I didn't realise.

How about we call it £30k basic and I'll forget about the commission?

usually means pushing in through someones door. They use aggressive selling techniques at least the ones I've had to deal with have and ask loads of strupid questions. I just tell them I make my own decissions and ask them to leave. :thumbsdow

Not how we train our guys.

This is a heavily regulated industry.

A year or two ago you could definately have come across idiots.

We are all employees of the company and not agency workers. I believe we do a good job. Should anything else come to light about someone in this team, it is dealt with.

I take my suggestion of £30k basic and no commission is a non-starter then?

Had a lady representing Npower pay a visit a week or two ago. She was actually sufficiently pretty that I'd have probably signed up to whatever she asked if the Mrs hadn't intervened .

British Gas have never enjoyed the same success as they send fat, 50+ year old men to represent them. Not how one gets ahead in the doorstep selling business.

Most poor salesmen would love remuneration that wasn't geared to their ability but the good ones won't mind as long as there is no cap on earnings.

I'll make a counter-offer (not just for the position mentioned... for anyone really).

I want a job where I can basically turn up when I want to. Well, if I can be bothered to turn up at all. Some days I might not feel like it, you know how it is. Or I could have something else I'd rather be doing. If you want (or if it makes it easier for you), I can tell you I'm working from home that day, just as long as you don't want to see the results of what I was actually working on.

On the odd day I do turn up (probably around 11 or so?), I probably won't actually do very much once I'm there. Basically, just make sure I have a good computer and a fast connection. I'm planning on spending probably 80% of my time just surfing the net, downloading illegal music, maybe some porn... whatever takes my fancy really. Yeah, I could do some of whatever it is you were wanting me to do, but, well, you know, I might not want to.

I'll obviously expect you to pay for all my telephone calls, whether business related or not (more likely the latter). Obviously, a cellphone would be required, given I'm not planning on actually being around much. I should point out that just because you're paying for my cellphone doesn't actually mean I'm going to answer when you call - I mean, if it's you coming up on the caller ID, and I'm doing something else, then... hey, I'll get back to you at some point this week. Maybe next week. If I remember. I probably won't, so if you don't hear from me, just call me again, leave another message to remind me to respond to the first message. Eventually you might get me. Probably. You know how it is.

I could do with a car as well, and obviously I'll need the tank filled on your account - petrol's really expensive, and given it's YOUR car, well, you should really pay for it. I'm the one who's driving it? Yeah, maybe, I suppose. But nah, if you could pay for it anyway, that'd be nice.

Could you stick a TV somewhere near my desk? You know, if I feel like just checking out what's on for a while? I mean, if I come in at 11 (or sometime), I'll obviously need something to do for an hour until lunchtime. Oh, that reminds me, I need a credit card - if I come into the office, I'll probably have to go eat someplace I wouldn't usually, so I think it's only fair you pay for it, no? I could probably do with a few beers while I'm at it. I'd probably meet up with some friends, and it'd be rude if I didn't get a few rounds in. After I'm done there, I don't know, I might come back? Really it depends, I mean, if I go to lunch at 12, it's hardly worth going unless I spend at least a few hours at it, and well, that's going to be after three by the time I get back. I may not bother, but that's OK, right? I'll do my best though, although I'm sure you'll understand that if I do put in an afternoon session, I'll probably need a couple of hours for a nap. Would a bed be out of the question? If it is, hey, a big comfy recliner will do fine.

I obviously want a good paycheck at the end of the day, but let's do something that suits us both. I'd usually be looking for six figures, but hey, I'm not greedy... 75 thou (up front) will be fine seeing as you're taking care of all the stuff above. All cool? Bueno. By the way, I don't think I'm being unreasonable in asking for any of this - surely if the MPs we vote back in every 4-5 years can do it, I can too?

I don't think there are any jobs in Marketing going at the moment, but perhaps the General could look around for you? :smashin:

Strangely enough the advert doesn't say anything about an ability to drive. You don't get very far in Norfolk & Suffolk without a vehicle of some kind, or do you get an nPower bike ?
