any suggestions would be greatfully appreciated.

    Cheers

    hi,

i'm not sure if this will be any use to you...

i'm not sure that you can have a different wallpaper on the springboard and the lockscreen

however, you can have something different. tried to grab a screenshot of my lockscreen but my fingers aren't quick enough to press all the buttons :D Mine says Birmingham as thats where i live.

    i use this

you can download it from cydia but you will need to SSH the phone in order to set your own city. Thats not difficult in itself.

sorry if that's no help but i though it may be an alternative. :D

You have to SSH into the phone and change the location - it has nothing to do with the "Locale" of the phone.

    Tone,

there is a file called configureme.js that comes with the phone - you need to SSH into the phone to see it (use iphonebrowser if it easier - but that wont let you change the file)
there is a line that needs changing in the file so it knows your in London

look for the line that starts var locale = 'xxxxxxxxx' and replace it with the code below

UKXX0085 <-------- that code is for London

You need to use winSCP. As i've said before if your not comfy doing these things then stay well away.

When you download WinSCP it asks log in details ? I did iphonebrowser and found the file, but as you said, you cant change it.

it needs the IP address of your phone to connect. Turn WiFi on (make sure its connected) and open "SB settings" and it tells you what it is towards he bottom of the the SB settings screen. It will be something like 192.168.x.x (its the one for your home network not the O2 data connection)

the user name is root and the password is alpine

save the login so you dont have to enter this info next time. :smashin:

You can copy the file to your desktop which you can edit, then replace the original file with the edited file from your desktop.

right clicking on the file within iphonebrowser will give you the copy and replace options.

i'm given to understand that some people have had problem with that method (i.e you think its replaced the file when hasn't.) I think on a global basis it helps if you know how to SSH into the phone (although that is more risky of course)

open iphonebrowser and select winterboard themes - look at where they live in the file structure - then navigate to the same place using WinSCP.

Tone, i'm going to take a punt here and guess that you dont work in an IT environment or are from an IT background? :rotfl: its all about logic.

and use the golden rule dont mess with anything your not sure of and if you get a dialog box asking you something you dont understand say cancel or no.
