wall mounting overa fire place

I want to wall mount a plasma tv over a fire place. though the fire is only on for short periods will this affect the tv in any way? I am looking at buying a pioneer with external tuner any thoughts?

There are lots of thread if you do a search.

I have mine over the fireplace - there should be no problem unless it is a roaring open fire, then you have heat and smoke problems.

If it is a normal gas fire then you should be fine, have it on full blast and measure the temp above it where the plasma is going to go, as long as it doesn't get near 100f you should be fine.
