Hey Folks

I was just in the process of sorting a deal out on a Sony 52w4500.

Obvioulsey we have got the 5500 coming out.. Which tbh, id love to wait for..

But is the 52" going to be coming out with a huge price tag.. i.e 2500+

I know thats not a massive price, but compared to the 1500 for a 52w4500.. would it be worth an extra grand...

I dont want to hold out too long, miss the w4500s and then not be able to afford a 52".....

Me thinks i should just opt for the 52w4500 but any advise would be cool...:lease:

Well the 52W45000 has an RRP of £2200 and Sony have raised the price the prices on their audio equipment by 20% so yes, I would expect for the frst few months that the 52W5500 would be £2500+.

Most Sony TV's intended for UK use are made in (Eurozone) Spain but pound has lost some 30% versus the Euro in last year so prices are bound to rise. To this you can add a stock scarcity factor. Many retailers are finding it difficult to finance their stock replenishment as the banks have withdrawn their credit line. So they have shifted a lot of stock at low margins over Xmas and the Jan sales and now have empty warehouses they cannot fill and therefore have nothing to sell - so can't make any money - so go to the wall (viz Empire Direct).

Those that have the cash to restock will be buying less from a higher landed cost source and also get a lower bulk discount. The number of outlets will have diminished and therefore competition will lessen. Those that have stock will therefore be able to demand even higher prices.
