Hi just bought a new VT65, 55inch and connected it to Virgin Tivo. Initially the HDMI was poor and giving a blurry picture. Bought a new cable from Richer Sounds and pic quality has improved. On Plasma, would I be getting a blurry picture when I am standing close to the TV, or should it still be reasonably sharp?

Any chance the Tivo box is spoiled?

A blu ray feed should give you a pristine image on the VT65, even sticking your face a few inches from the screen it should look sharp. I'm watching 'The Chase' on ITV1 Freeview HD and the image is very sharp and very detailed about 18 inches from the screen, mine's a 50'' screen. Don't know much about the Tivo box but SD depends very much on the quality of the broadcast, as matt said poor SD broadcasts will look poor on any large screen set.
