VSX 921 - mini mac audio problem with movies

Use a mini mac for movies and music. The mini mac dvi output and the optical sound output are connected to the receiver.
Audio using Opt-2 is ok selecting CD on the receiver (can hear iTunes/movie sound). Selecting the DVR hdmi (using the hdmi/dvi input from the mac & Opt-2) is showing the movie not the sound.

Did check the signal sel on the remote it is set to Auto, I also tried Digital.

What am I doing wrong? Movies without sound is :boring:

Thanks,
Harold

Hi,

It is really strange: when I disconnect the hdmi cable from the receiver the movie sound is ok. Seems to me audio part is ok except for some setting somewhere in the pioneer configuration not allowing the combination of hdmi input (picture) and optical (sound).

Problem solved. Great movie picture and dts sound using combination of hdmi/dvi and optical from mini mac to vsx921.

Basic setup: (described in other post as well)
1| Connect dvi/hdmi to any hdmi input
2| Connect Toslink to Opt-1 / Opt-2
3| Configure receiver port to combine dvi/hdmi + Opt
4| Configure Audio parameter HDMI for AMP (not through)
5| Configure Signal Sel for Auto or Digital

If on Mac make sure you do have a program running blocking all non 2 channel output (Airfoil / Spotify / iTunes).

Have fun,

Harold
