Has anyone got any suggestions on how to level out sound on my Sony str-dh820 av receiver. When switching channels some seem to be much lower in volume than others, especially any which output Dolby sound.

I've tried the auto volume button on the remote and although I like that option, my wife finds that too loud! I can't win!

Is this changing channels on the internal tuner of the TV or Sky or is it different volumes from different sources to the receiver?

This is due to the wider dynamics of Dolby encoded material in comparison to the lower bit rate PCM encoded audio used for the non digital channels. There's not an aweful lot you can do about it, but your amp may have some form of adaptive dynamic range control or other such mode it can utilise to lessen the problem?
