Volume control problem

Hi There,

I've had a TEAC CR-H250 CD micro system for a couple of years.
http://www.teac.co.uk/reference_main.html

It's developed a problem with the volume control. It is a metal knob but is clearly attached to something digital. The faster you turn it the faster it turns up or down.

The problem is that it has become unreliable. You turn it down and it turns up the volume and vice versa - if you're very careful then you can nudge the volume up or down but it's very frustrating. The remote control works flawlessly so it must be the dial itself.

Anyone got any ideas on what might be wrong and if it's worth trying to fix it myself or get it fixed professionally?

Well you need to contact a Teac dealer. It may just need some contact cleaner.

Strangely, I have exactly the same problem on my PC monitors volume control. :(
