I have for sale a boxed, Connects2 CTAVGIPOD009.2 iPod interface.
I had it fitted in my Mark V Golf GTi connected to the factory RCD300 head unit (a.k.a car stereo or car radio:) ) .

I ran the dock connector to the centre console & connected iPod Classics and my iPhone 4s but you could send it to the glovebox and leave an iPod in there permanently. Either way your car will look "factory" with the added bonus of lots more tunes!

I had this fitted for a couple of months before I decided to upgrade the Golf to a Pioneer head unit with iPhone connection so it's surplus to requirements.

The adapter plugs into the back of the VW standard factory fit head unit where the CD multichanger connects. It then makes the factory head unit think there is a CD changer attached and the first 6 playlists on the iPod/iPhone appear as "Disc1"..."Disc6" selectable from the factory unit buttons.
Play/skip forward/skip back all work from the factory unit as though it were a CD changer.
I also had a Parrot Bluetooth kit connected and this muted the iPod when calls were received.

    Connects2 say the adapter is compatible with vehicles with RCD200, RCD210, RCD300, RCD310, RCD500, RCD510, MFD2 OEM Radios.
Volkswagen/Audi/Seat/Skoda share common parts so it MAY be compatible with other standard car stereos from that group around the 2003-14 model years but you'll need to do your own research.

I can say with 100% confidence is that it works flawlessly with the RCD300 fitted in my MKV Golf.
I used it with an 80GB iPod Classic, 160GB Classic and iPhone4S inc. charging.
I imagine it will work with any 30pin dock connected Apple device.
It should work with Lightning connected devices with the proper Apple adapter but as I don't have an iPhone5 or 6 & the head unit is out of the car I can't test anything else to be sure.

    The manufacturer page is here

If you go through this page there is a compatibility chart to see if this is what you need

This shows you how they work in general, though it's not a VW in the video

This video shows removing the dash in a mk5 Golf to get at the stereo.
If you get as far as removing the airvents you will be able to reach in side and connect the iPod adapter and feed the cables through to the glove box.
It's really not a tricky job, you just need a T20 torx driver (starshaped screwdriver) and a plastic trim removal tool, though some people use a teaspoon!

Hello mate, been looking at one of these for a while now but I'd be running it from my iPhone 5. Happy to take a punt but I can only offer £12 delivered as its a slight risk for me.

@Sweetman On the official product page Connects2 confirm it will work with your iPhone 5 using the Apple dock to lightning adapter.
Connects 2 Car Audio Systems, Car Stereo, Car Radio DAB Stereos, Car interface adapters and accessories > ProductInformation

I have now got an iPhone 6 and using the official dock to lightning adapter it works with all my dock accessories including the Pioneer I put in the Golf and the Alpine iDA-X001 in my partners Mini which is tuner/iPod only.

These sell on Amazon for £30 on eBay for £37!

After I've paid Royal Mail £2.80 for second class post, £12 leaves me with just £9.20.

Thanks for the offer, I might be tempted to come down but £12 is too low.

Very understandable and I do apologise for an offer I was slightly embarrassed to make. My only reason for doing so was the fact I'll need to buy a lightning rod adaptor and trim tool to make it work and in the interest of saving money my offer reflected that.

Maybe two trusted forum members can meet somewhere in the middle?

I wasn't offended at all, I know how the cost of things snowball.

I used these trim tools which cost £5 - out of stock with my supplier but the same stuff is available all over eBay.
Carsio 4 Piece Upholstery Trim Removal Tool Set Vehicle Car Van Interior Panels | eBay
I have seen people using butter knives and teaspoons but I'm a bit more precious about the interior.

The last lightning adapter went for £12 on here -

I'm sure we can - if you could pay £18 by bank transfer today I would have it in the post tomorrow and you should have it to fit at the weekend.

Thanks for the links, very handy. I'll definitely be getting a trim tool, I couldn't bring myself to hack away at it with a butter knife.

Call it £16, immediate bank transfer, to help with the cost of other bits and it's a deal.

    @Sweetman

    As I mentioned in PM
"One thing you MUST be aware of. There is a bare wire from the adapter which HAS to be grounded. I simply loosened a case screw on the back of the stereo and wrapped it around it then tightened it up again. If you were being a bit more professional then you would connect it to the ground on the stereo loom.
If you don't ground that wire the stereo doesn't see the interface. It behaves as though it wasn't there, this had me baffled for quite some time!"

I've printed the newer PDF installation instructions from the Connects2 website which are in the package.

My RCD300 is in my office so I an refit it if I sell the Golf. I've attached a picture that shows how the adapter connects to the CD Changer input on the back of my RCD300 (Blue arrow).
The bare wire I attached to this case screw (Red Arrow)
It's really obvious when you have the unit in front of you, it was not at all clear on the original instructions though.

Off to the post office at lunchtime.

Fitted today and it works perfectly with my nano...which I forgot I had. Still need to pick up an adaptor for my iPhone but no reason to doubt it wouldn't work. Thanks AMc!
