VM Digital with Universal remote controls

I am on VM analogue and am considering changing to digital (or possibly to SKY). When I considered changing a couple of years ago I heard that VM (NTL) set top boxes used a proprietary IR which would not work with the various Universal Remote Controls that are available.

Does anybody know if this is still true - it would be a pain to have to use 2 or more Remotes.

IIRC, some cable STB's, the Scientific atlanta 4200 for instance, use the IRDA standard. This means most (but not all) universal remotes will be incompatible with these. I don't think the V+/TVDrive box (Scientific Atlanta 8200) is IRDA.

My harmony remote works with the scientific atlanta nad the samsung set tp boxes that VM deploy so you should not have any problems with one of those.
