VLC/Vista video thumbnail problems

Standard Member
Okay, i use VLC Media PLayer with Windows Vista and have come across 3 problems.

1. Windows Vista does not display thumbnails for .mkv or .divx and some .avi file extensions. Any codecs/freeware/tricks to change this?

2. Majority of my videos have a black screen thumbnail, is there any way to change how far in the movie Vista takes the thumbnail?

3. Quite a picky one, for most file extensions, VLC's thumnails for videos is a movie reel with a video frame in the centre and the traffic cone in the bottom right. However .flv file extensions don't have the movie reel and instead just a frame with the traffic cone in the bottom right. Any way of changing this?

Help with any of these will be greatly appreciated.
