    Hi,

I have recently installed a programme called VLC media Centre.

I did this as it appears to play back HD trailers and stuff a lot better than playing them in WM or Quicktime.

The problem i'm getting though is that a lot of trailers (720p Quicktime files) that i've been playing have no sound, only picture.

I'm sure it's a VLC problem rather than a corrupt file as when played with Quicktime the audio is there, only the video stutters and lags like crazy

    Any suggestions :lease:

    TIA

Have you checked in the sound/audio preferences to see if it has detected is able to use the correct codec? Make sure you enable select the 'show advanced options' in the preferences otherwise you barely see anything

Ahhh i fell foul of this a few times :D

When you run some dvd's etc, if they have multiple audio streams attached then it might select the wrong one. When you start the video you should see a list of tracks available in the audio menu. Try changing to another one

For the record: I reckon VLC rocks! Don't even need to extract ISO images, it will play from a compresses image... suck on that Media Player! :D

I''ve been on to the VLC forums and looke dat a thread that covers this issue.

6 pages of various errors, problems etc etc.

    Some worked, some didn't.

Seems theres one hell of an issue here.

I can't sort it so if anyone knows of a definitive fix, please help.

Otherwise.....well, some files play with sound and some don't, i'll just have to take my chances :)

And jsut one more bit of info.

Take a 720p trailer I have (Serenity) when I play it (audio is fine) the audio options are:

    Audio Track
    Audio Device
    Audio Channels
    Visualisations
    Equalizer

With a 720p Final Destination 3 trailer I have (no audio) the audio options are:

    Audio Track
