    Hi,

    I have the following:

    Q6600 (@ 3.8Ghz Stable)

    4Gb OCZ 1066Mhz RAM

    Nvidia 8800GTX

    2.25 Tb SataII Hard drives.

Whilst its not the latest kit, it is still a top performer and have had no problems playing games at high settings or outputting movies to my Sony 40" S4000 1080p via DVI-HDMI...

Recently however, I've noticed VLC stutters and struggles to play HD content - some movies are fine (The Patriot Blu Ray - 20Gb filesize) but it really cant cope with some scenes on smaller but higher def files such as Planet Earth (2.3 Gb) and Resident Evil 3 (The raven scene)...

I was wondering if this was VLC at fault?

If so - could you put your suggestions for alternate media players - and explain what codec settings need using as I'm a bit behind since DivX first came out...

    Cheers
