VLC and 5.1 sound

Hi all

I have a problem playing files with 5.1 sound thru vlc player. The picture is fine but when I adjust the audio to play the raw 5.1 output, the amp I am connected to show 5.1 dolby digital but the sound comes thru as stutters all the time. Not sure what the problem is. Normal 2 channel dolby stereo is ok and comes thru as pro logic in the amp.

Any ideas please?

Which sound card? You should be looking to use bit-perfect pass-through if you have a DD amp.

Hi

Am using the sound output from the motherboard. I don't have a separate sound card. The lead I am using is a phono to phono from pc to amp. I will ad that normal dvd movies via intervideo play fine in 5.1. Issue is only for VLC player.

Thanks

Thanks guys

How do I adjust the settings of the VLC player? While a movie is playing? or without?

Thanks
