    Hey all,

After viewing rtings.com I know the differences between these two models. I'm just trying to justify the extra cost for the P series to see if I really need it.

    Main use of TV
-Blu ray movies/high def movie watching
-smash bro's (need low input lag, for SDR anyways)

I found good prices for both.

Both refurbished (doesn't bother me too much) from Vizio.

    P55-C1 - $699

    M55-E0 - $432

So what do you guys think? Would you pay an extra $267 for the upgraded P Series?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

Most people who post here aren't familiar with Vizio as they are only sold in North America. I tried to compare but it's hard to differentiate between model numbers. For example it looks like on rtings.com the P55-C1 looks like it's the 2016 P series whilst the M55-E0 is a 2017 model.

The comparisons aren't accurate though on rtings though because the M series at 55"doesn't use the same panel type they reviewed.

So with the panel type in mind go for the M series of you need wide viewing angles. If not the P series if you want deeper blacks, higher contrast and better screen uniformity in the dark.

Looks like the specs on the p series are better overall anyway.

Thanks for the reply and for looking into it.

I believe the P55 is an IPS LCD so it would probably be ok for viewing angles. I'm more leaning towards the p series...thinking if im going to upgrade from my 42" Panasonic Plasma from 2011, i might as well get the best picture i can.

Where are you getting the panel info from? If you need viewing angles yes you will need IPS. It's a shame though because IPS panels have worse pq traits elsewhere when it comes to screen uniformity, blacks and contrast ratio. Especially compared to a Plasma.

Why not go for the TCL 55P607 ?

From rtings.com. They mentioned the 55" panel is an IPS panel. This link is for the 2017 version but they also mention 2016 P Series is the same as 2017. Vizio P Series XLED 2017 Review (P55-E1, P65-E1, P75-E1)

The TCL was my first pick for sure, though I couldn't find it cheaper than $650 and the P55-C1 is only $50 more.

It comes down to viewing angles. The TCL is VA type so you get better contrast and blacks but lose viewing angles.

If you prefer to have wider viewing angles then I guess the vizio is the better option for you.

Viewing angles isn't as important as picture quality. So if the P607 has a better picture than the P55-C1 then i'll go with that. Thanks for all of your help!
