virtual exchange with VOIP

I know that calls can be transfered/conferenced with skype.

Is it possible to buy landline numbers and uses them as a virtual exchange?

I'm getting annoyed at having 4 line rentals from BT with additional cost of featureline on each. We use 0870 numbers for call recording via Opal, so it does not matter what the actual carrier numbers are. Prob go for 0207 prefix.

Each user will have a skype on each laptop and can have bluetooth earpiece or use a usb skype phone.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you want an Asterisk PBX and some SIP trunks from someone like sipgate

You definitly need to get away from skype, check out www.voipfone.co.uk and their virtual pbx. Very powerful.
