Virgin media and wifi extender

Hi All,

I've bought the following:
TP-Link TL-WPA281 V3 AV200 Powerline 300M Wi-Fi Extender with 2 Ethernet Ports (Wi-Fi Clone, No Configuration Required): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

I thought it would just be a case of plug this into the wall and press the clone button. However it doesnt seem to work.

have i been an idiot here and bought an add on wireless point for it and do i actually need:

I'm not sure what this has to do with the internet, it seems like a purely networking question.

'Doesn't seem to work' is a bit vague, can you described the problem in a bit more detail? What do the instructions say? Do you get the network in the location you're trying anyway?
