hi the virgin hd box,compared to the sci atlanta v plus box,is there any noticeable difference in picture quality,on sd and hd.

I think it depends on the quality and size of the screen you're going to be using. If using a decent quality <40" screen I don't think you will notice hardly any difference between SD & HD.
