Virgin box - simple answer required please......

I have a new Samsung 37" HD ready tv and have connected it to the "classic" Virgin box (my V+ box is on order) using a scart cable.
Can anyone tell me why the sound is so poor? I'm quite sure I get mono and not stereo, is there something simple I am missing?

Many thanks.

Are all the 'cores' in the SCART cable there? Some cheaper SCART cables had only the bare minimum for a composite connection. Not always easy to tell but if you look at either connector you may see only several pins. typically the cable is thinner too. Try another or wait til your V+ arrives and make sure the engineer connects it up via the supplied HDMI cable.

Many thanks for your help, i'll check the scart this evening. If scart appears OK is there something I should check on either the TV or V Box settings?

I'd be very surprised if it was a fault with the TV. I'm not familiar with V Box but again, I'd be surprised if there was an option to output only mono sound.

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for your V+ box...

It'll change the way you watch TV. I have no idea which program is on which day any more. We just sit down and see what's recorded.

Zooming through the ads at x32 means you can watch an hour long show in 40 mins. Timewarp!
