Never really noticed or bothered with 'PAL speed up' before until I watched The Raven (1963) and Masque of The Red Death on R1 DVD.

My GOD Vincent Price sounds different

His voice sounds 'slower' and no where near as sinsiter as his 'PAL voice', which I think I prefer, having been so accustomed to it watching him so much on UK TV in the 70s.
Oddly enough I also recently noticed a difference in Donald Sutherland's voice in The Italian Job (WMV HD version). Same as above.

Strange that I haven't noticed it on other more familiar actors or songs in films that I have watched on R1 DVDs

I heard him on some radio horror stories he did for the BBC and I have to say he sounded the same to me.

I thought he sounded the same on Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare" album.

Maybe my hearings not quite as good as it one was:)
