Hi there

i have a Vicent Audio CD-S6MK CD player, i dont use it a huge amount, but i went to use it the other day and it would not pick up any CD at all i tried several, it just says no disc straight away.

it does not even sound like its trying to spin the CD up. could it just be the mech sticking? or a faulty laser?

i spoke to a few places and they said they wouldnt even look at it becuase of the make.

thanks

as it uses a Philips mechanism, I'm not sure why nobody will look at it.

have you taken the case off and had a look what is happening inside, maybe the motor is duff or there is no power to it, perhaps some dirt on the laser or similar.

as its not under warranty and pretty much a brick in its current state, you've got nothing to lose by having a quick tinker yourself

Nice to but it won't be for sale. Just been been the matching amp an power amps to go with it.opened I today. And unles unles bit of pressur pressure is applied to t transport unit I does not see the disc. If you apply a small amount of pressure. It then spins up and recognises the tracks but pressing play still does not start the timer. So hopefully a easy fix as laser moves.

Sorry I struggled to understand what you are saying there, do you mean if you press on the mechanism then it spins up?

So if you don't push, then it doesn't spin at all?

Or does the motor spin, but it doesn't get any 'grip' on the disc?

So it sounds like it needs some adjustment, I guess there is some microswitch which tells it when a CD is inserted and its not switching.

Yeah I hope so. Found out local ish place who have a guy repair things for them. So may try them. Got a feeling it going to set up back about 100-170 though

so the part circled in red if pressed a bit seems to pick up the disc, and yes does appear to be a philips transporter, so could i replace the whole unit?

See if you can see what happens to the spindle , maybe its not engaging on the disc properly until you push it down a little, maybe the spindle can be adjusted to be a mm higher

i tried when i had the top off, but far as i went was t remove the 3 screews that help it in place, i couldnt see any reason why it didnt spin up on its own though, shame as really miss cranking up a cd
