I have just bought a Yamaha MCR-E600 mini system with DVD player for the bedroom. I listened to it in the shop before buying but could not find any reviews. I was pleased with it so I bought it. Now I have it home I am well impressed but would still like to see what other folk think.

Has anyone any views or reviews on the MCR-E600?

    Cheers,

    David.

i have the non dvd e400 version with MD and cassette options and have to agree it's fantastic.

very overlooked systems, especially for the money.

    enjoy.

one thing you'll find is the speakers take a short while to bed in due to them being high quality.

I left mine on the radio during the day when at work to speed this up.

At first they sound a little harsh and the bass a little lacking. They soon open up once run in though. They also sound better in open space away from walls. Ideally on stands i would have thought (something I can't do with mine).

As to the DVD section I wouldn't be surprised if its based on philips stuff so prob easily made multi region.

    Good luck.

    Hi,

I Got Yamaha MCR-E600 last week, the design is very good. But I am not satisfied with the musical quality the detail is not as good as I expected. Is there any things to improve the quality ?

    Regards,
    Munzir

    Buy different speakers.

I've bought three of these for family, 1 of the CD version and two of the newer DVD version. Love 'em, great value. But not the loudspeakers :(

In all three cases bought JMLab Sibs/Cub to go with them, far better. But I'm sure there are other alternatives that would be just as good.

Well I've got the same speakers on the E400 (non DVD) version.

They sounded dreadful at first - very harsh and a bit bass light.

Leave the system switched on for a few days while you're out on the radio to loosen them up.

You'll find they'll loosen up and bed in nicely sounding far more mellow with more weight.

There is a sub out on the system you could use also.

Failing that yes get some different speakers like mentioned in another post.. Mission's should be a good match I would have thought.

    Not a clue mate.

Looking at the zapper i would say it's maybe based on a philips product, maybe try a philips multi region code??

Think I'm right in saying Yamaha use Philips designs. Certainly used to at the beginning of their DVD range.

just found this after a lot of searching.

Region code hack posted by ettgec, July 24 2005:
    1) power up the unit as normal
    2) open tray
    3) enter 99990 with remote

a message will appear on the tv "region 0"

    4) press enter & close tray

    works instantly

    * by changing the end number you can reset the region ie 99991 would be region 1 ect

N.B. This is the same hack as with the Yamaha C750

    Untested though.
