:lease: I have had this tv for a couple of weeks now and have noticed that when watching it with Sunshine glaring on it i get an oily look where the sun hits it. Looks a little like the rainbo effect you get with petrol when poured on the floor. Does anyone else have this? ...Pioneer tech staff say it is normal and caused by the filters installed.

Not a really big deal but can be off-putting, otherwise tv is perfect. However is this is set is faulty i would like to send it back and get a new one but must do it soon.

I haven't noticed it with mine but my room is not that bright - curtains get closed when its movie time!

Have had mine a week and notice a similar thing in very bright sun light so must be as Pioneer say.

On a seperate note Gaz, I notice that you have PS3 - is this all hooked up to the tv and if so have you found a way to get it to display 1080p - I spent ages on this before I even found out that the 427xd only outputs 1080p at 24hz and not true 1080p. My PS3 only recognises a 720p or 1080i signal..is this the best I am going to get and what does it output when u play a blu ray disc (have not got one yet to try!).

Hope that makes some sense!

Cheers Jezza i'm just glad i'm not the only one. I think this is normal and i just have it bad because i have a last window at 90 degrees. With regards 1080P and PS3 i have had a similar dilemma. Unfortunately in speaking to sony they confirmed that 1080p is not possible at the moment through 24fps and this is obviously the only way the pdp can do this. The guy at sony did say that it was a software issue and may be upgraded in a later firmware update (lets keep fingers crossed.

1080p at FPS is actually the real true HD resolution as this is how most films are shot. As such most blue rays are set at this and the the player mostly converts it to 60HZ or 50HZ. Lets hope.

I have Casino royale and world trade centre and both look good running through the pS3 although i was slightly dissapointed as was not as good as any HD DVD i have seen through my XBOX

many thanks for that feedback - will keep fingers crossed that sony get off their backsides!
