    Hey all,

So I was sitting in my home office tonight and started thinking about the possibility of getting a plasma - I really wanted a projector for the room but its just too small to really do a projector justice - so what about a plasma. Are there any guides out there for recomended viewing distance. I have a 42" Rear Projection Tosh downstairs and when I bought this I was warned about making sure I had a big enuff room - to be honest I think the sales people were being over careful - so what about plasmas - any minimum recomened distance for say a 42" Plasma ?

    ta,

    Nige

    Most home cinema magazines have a rough guide..................think 10 ft for 37 to 42 inch.......................................12 ft for 42 to 50 inch...............if i remember correctly.

    Cheers,Tam

Well the closer you sit to a large screen, the more you will notice any imperctions in the source material. I have a 37" viera and sit about 10 foot away. this for me is just right. Maybe try and see one in action via a good demo, then measure how far away you need to be to suite your Viewing requirements. :)

Viewing at 50" PHD7 from 12' no problems - in fact it seems to be shrinking!

    Monkeyleader,

It really does depend on the quality of screen dvd etc.

I have a small room and have had a panny 42pw4 for the last few years, i have to say picture quality was very very good which it had to be as im only about 5 feet away!

Ive now since moved on to a pio 50" but with a scaler and again have no probs sitting this close.

But my friend has a LG (sorry not sure on model) plasma and i have to say its no where near as as clear even from about 9 feet away!

As david says definately try before you buy but always aim for the biggest if you can!
