I'd be interested to hear from owners of 50" plasma displays, in reference to how far they are sitting back from their screens?

So, if you have a 50 incher (ohh er misses), I'd really appreciate some feedback....

I'm gonna be 12 foot from my screen - is this a little to close (thing is, I ain't got any more room).

I saw a Pioneer 503HDE yesterday (playing Gladiator) and it looked a little grainney in some areas/backgrounds. I was sat 12 foot away from it.

I was watching the DVD via a Onkyo £1,200 player (not progressive).

    Any comments appreciated.

    Tim

Thanks MonkeyBoy73: Great link - but it doesn't tell you what the minimum is for optimum viewing pleasure, just the maximum.:(

If you own a 50" plasma .... StooMonster/Redrose etc, what distance do you sit from the screen.

    All comments appreciated.

    Tim

themmings - I'm about 12 feet away from my 50" plasma, and all is well. It takes a while to become used to having a "BIG" screen in front of you if you've only had a TV there before.

BTW, I would be very sceptical about favouring or dismissing any particular model of plasma because of a demo. The chances are that it's so far from it's ideal set-up position (in terms of picture quality) that it would be a very unreliable test. I'd buy one of the main players' units (Pio and Panny are the best ath the moment, by consensus), run it for 100 hours or so (to bed in) and get it calibrated - properly! I had mine done by Gordon, and it made a huge difference.

    My 2p's worth!
