Viewfinder power consumption

Reading the specs on my MVX 450 I was surprised to learn the viewfinder
uses the same power (5w) as the 2.7" monitor - How can this be when the viewfinder is the fraction of the size ? - Are all camcorders like this ? Any one know why ?

I think there is generally some difference, but less than their used to be (I guess improvements in LCD technology in terms of power consumption). On my camcorder (Sony HC1) there is only a .2 W difference (e.g. 5.0 with viewfinder, 5.2 with LCD in DV mode). I think the viewfinder or LCD takes a small amount of the overall power consumption.
