    Hi all
This is my first photo sharing thread, and i'm going to use it to share the photo's i took on my recent trip to Vietnam and Thailand. It was my first trip to Asia, and more importantly, my first time travelling with a 'proper' camera. I usually just used my iPhone, and the images looked great at that size. But i wanted something capable of taking images which i could potentially print, or create photobooks with.

I welcome criticism, both of technique and processing. I openly admit that i missed focus on a number of shots and probably didn't use the correct settings. I used the 'punch' presets in Lightroom to give the images a bit of oomph. I'm not sure if they have been over processed though.

Here is my first batch (and my Flickr stream Flickr: mind_the_gupp's Photostream

Lovely colours and some nice people shots my only minor gripe would be number 7 as the face is so hidden, but 3, 10 and 13 more tahn make up for that.

Agree with the above comments. Some nicely composed shots and I like the colour in them as well. Did you use the 45mm most of the time ? Its a cracking lens and ideal for street shots as you can keep some distance.

Good job with a nice camera... I have one of course :)

5 for me in many respects. Shame the girls face is a bit hidden but I can understand why to take the shot. But lovely expressions on the faces

Thanks for the positive responses everyone, i'm glad that they don't look overly processed, just 'punchy' maybe.

I mainly used the 45mm and my 45mm-175mm lenses, and occasionally the 20mm Panny. I've never used a camera with interchangeable lenses, so part of the fun (if i can call it that) was making decisions about what lenses i wanted to use, trying to plan ahead, and generally trying to adapt my composition on the go rather than swapping ot lenses every time. I found the 45mm and the zoom lens covered most situations.

Thanks. I was in Vietnam for around two weeks, then spent around a week in Thailand (Koh Samui and Bangkok). We went from Hanoi, to Ha Long Bay, to Hue, then onto Hoi An and finally Ho Chi Minh. I loved it, two great countries. But we left with the feeling that there was so much more still to see. I particuarly liked Hanoi and Hoi An, the latter being an idylic little place with small streets and some great restaurants. I enjoyed Ho Chi Minh, but it very much felt like a Western city to me, but it did still have its own 'feel'. The shots above are mainly all from Hanoi.

The shots below are mainly from Hoi An, but also from Ha Long Bay and the city of Hue, home to what was the Imperial Palace i believe.

I find the 20mm great for when I'm in places like London for candid shots as well. Its discreet and the camera also fits into a coat pocket. Love this set as well 10 is my favourite but their young women are certainly beautiful aren't they ?

Humanfish - some really good stuff here, a nice blend of candids and landmark/landscape shots. Too many to comment on individually, but my favourites are #'s 11 & 12 from Set 1 and #'s 2, 4, 8 & 12 from Set 2.

Look forward to seeing more of your work in the Sharing section

Thanks for positive responses everyone. It's certainly given me some motivation to get out and take more shots, and more than that, go to places which interest, inspire and engage me.

I went just after Christmas, from 27 December until 17 January. We may well have been in Hanoi at the same time! A little chilly wasn't it.

I travelled with a couple of friends, so respect your ability to meet and make new friends. I'm a bit of an introvert when it comes to things like that.
