I'm about to take the plunge and order a 42pe30. I have also considered the PW6 but the wife loves the styling of the Viera and I want all the connections and the built in speakers so I can move it into another room occasionally without moving all the AV gear too. However, I'm a bit confused about future HDTV compatibility. I know that the Viera and PW6 are not true HD screens but I've read on the forum that the Viera will not support 720p or 1080i but the PW6 will. However John Archer's review in August's Home Cinema Choice states that the Viera is compatible with 1080i and 720p. Is it or is it not? Anyone got a manual or tech specs they can refer to?

Also is the lack of DVI/HDMI a real disadvantage if I'm not intending to upgrade my DVD player (currently Panny HS2)?

    Cheers,

    CJ
