Thanks to this forum I have purchased a Viera Plasma with which my wife and I are very happy with the quality of picture etc... which is excellent

    Here comes the but.

Following the opinions expressed on the forum I have invested in component leads to connect my Cyrus DVD player. (I was already satisfied with RGB through a scart but hey lets go for better). With component leads connected (correctly) I have a completely green picture when the DVD player is set to output component. When set to RGB picture is ok the scart lead is disconnected by the way. Make sense to me this does not. Can anyone help please. Not too concerned as I said RGB through the scart is still very good and for that matter so is RGB through the component leads!!!!!???

Hi, have you tried switching your viera AV4? repeated pressing of the blue button scrolls through AV4 rgb/s/ comp.

    Hi happyh

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes done that Viera indicates it is a component conection, but do not understand why the DVD player needs to be set to output RGB. Set to component the picture is a lovely shade of green. Great if watching the Hulk.

    Update.

I have spoken to Cyrus tech. support.

Their answer " set component in the DVD player to RGB which means Red Green Blue. Ignore the setting YUV this is for scart".

    What a load of .........

On my pioneer dvd757ai, you have to set the player to composite or svideo in order for the componenet outputs to work. Setting to rgb will not allow a signal through the componenet outputs.
I know it might sound daft but, have you made sure your componenet leads are all connected properly? If I had a pund for every time I thought there was a problem but it was just becasuse a lead was not in properly, well, I would have at least 10 pounds :D

    David

With the Dvd connected by component (scart disconnected) picture is ok when DVD is set to RGB. When DVD is set to YUV the picture is green.

Swopping the cables to my panny DVD recorder the settings are as they should be component YUV scart RGB.

    Thanks for your answer.

One last try. I don't know your dvd player.
Can you actually turn off rgb as well as turn on Comp?
I know other dvd players regard the two as mutually exclusive.Perhaps rgb is over-riding Comrp.
