    Hi,
just bought a vidikron projector off ebay, have no idea
what model number it is yet, apart from that is a crt model
was bought about 2 years ago and has 100 hrs of use since new (apparentley)and has original receipt, remote control and ceiling mount.
Anyway what I am asking is basically the throw size of the average crt 8" or 9" projector to work out what size image i will get. I am hoping it is one of the vision line as the picture seems
    like it.

Anyone know roughly how much noise these make as my lcd
projector was driving me crazy... hopefully much quieter than that.

    Anyway thanks for reading.....

    :D

Recon on about 1.5 times the screen width to the front of the projector.

The top Vidicrons were rebadged Electrohomes with nice cases.

They can be quietend if you find it too offensive.

Ok from working out what you have said I will probably get about a 100" picture which is about right seeing as It's gonna be in
a bedroom of a shared flat.
Yes i know...but I got it so cheap and my LCD projector is serving about the same size image at full zoom. I like my pictures big.
The only thing I'm worried about is installing the damn thing.. it has to go on the ceiling and apparenty weighs at least 44lbs.
I don't know if it can take it.
I will be using my PC as the main source, as it has an al in wonder Radeon 8500DV in it as well as a wintv-dbs and can serve good images to the projector - is this the way to go?
or should I use a standalone sat reciever / tv tuner? Will it give me a better picture?

Also what is the lifespan of a crt tube....

CRT's can last between 100hrs and 20,000hrs depending on how you use or abuse them.

I'm not that familiar with the small vidikrons but so long as it will take PC input you should be fine. mor ethan likely this will be on 5 BNC connectors.

50kg for a CRT is not that heavy.
